Based on the Highlands of Scotland this book is ideal for children and grown-ups.
After sitting down with my 5 year old daughter to read this book to her we both enjoyed reading about the three little girls and also Joe the Fisherman (book 1 in this series).
The book is aimed at children 5 to 10 years old and while my daughter is becoming a really good reader I would recommend to read this to children aged 5 to 6 pending on their reading ability.
Reading about the girls and following the story on where they live and what they get up to was not only fun but educational.
The best thing about this book is it has given an insight into grown-ups and the fishing community, my daughter enjoyed learning about where prawns came from and she happily talked about Joe and that he is a creel fisherman. My daughter laughed reading about not letting the fish they use for bait get too smelly.
While I do not want to give too much away about this book we also enjoyed learning about Sustainable Fishing and how they put back the smaller prawns using an escape hole.
We both liked the pictures in the book so not only could we read about Joe and the three girls but we also got to see them in pictures and the place they live.
I would say that this book has been well thought out and the layout is easy to follow, in the back of the book it talks about other books in the same range and we will be looking out for the other books.
In summery we would highly recommend this book not only for children at home but also for schools. My daughter has already asked me to go out and buy Richard the Vet.
