We were excited to be given the opportunity to go to Ultimate Tribute Festival on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May at Upton Country Park in Poole in Dorset. I live relatively close to Upton and whenever the festival is on, I can hear the music from my back garden.

Saturday was Rock Anthems Day and Sunday was Pop Icons. Through each day there was music from some of the best tribute bands around including ACDC, Queen and Oasis on Saturday and Ed Sheeran, Blondie and Michael Jackson. I love rock music, so Saturday was the best day for me. Queen was absolutely awesome, and I had such fun singing along and dancing to my old favourites – “Don’t Stop me Now” had the crowd going wild.

The tribute bands were all fantastic and really captured the essence of the original bands with energetic and engaging performances. The best thing about tribute acts is you know all the songs and can sing and dance along to your hearts content. No new music – no silent crowd.

We had a base where we set down our picnic blanket. It was nice to have somewhere to come back to and it was really safe. We left our blanket to go get some food, and it was still there when we got back. There was lots of security around too and people to ask if you needed help. We didn’t see any trouble at all.

It is a real family festival too. Lots of people had children of various ages all enjoying the music, food and the array of festival shops. There was a sense of community among the festival goers with opportunities to meet new people or bump into friends. People also brought there 4 legged friends as the festival welcomes well-behaved dogs provided they are on leads.

Not only did the festival have awesome music but there was an array of fabulous food and drinks. I am a bit of a gin lover, so we did enjoy the spritz bar. The prices are as you would expect for a festival, a little more than you would usually pay. You can always take your own little picnic if you like. My children loved that Bournemouth Ice Cream were there too – our favourite,

Upton house is a beautiful country park which is situated just outside Poole on the edge of Poole Harbour.

We walked down to festival, but on-site parking was available and if you were organised you could have pre-paid for this.

The festival is on each year on the last bank holiday weekend of May. You can buy the tickets for either Saturday or Sunday or you can get a weekend ticket so you can attend both. This year a weekend ticket for an adult was £43 or £25 if you attended just one of the days. If there is availability you can also buy the tickets on the gate or you can book them online.
