Travel Bites by The Hungry Traveller has both.
This is the first book by The Hungry Traveller and a pretty fine attempt it is. The book takes the form of short “bite” size chapters which follows the author on his travels which take in Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe and the author’s home country of the US.
Each chapter follows one of the author’s trips and describes his experiences in some far flung place. It starts off cultural but always finishes with food as each one ends with a recipe.
The recipes are the author’s interpretation of a dish he has eaten in the country / area of the chapter. Some are simple pasta dishes (even a cup of coffee) up to more complicated dishes with 16 different ingredients.
Some of the stories will make you chuckle others will make you think, Cambodia is a particularly poignant read.
Overall, a good entertaining read that can be picked up and dipped in and out of, much like the Meze dishes in the book!
