Tractor Ted Activity Book 2 Easter Edition Review

Reviewed by Anna Edwards
This book jumped out at me immediately when I saw it. My 3 year old daughter is obsessed with tractors (my husband is very proud of her pronunciation of “Massey Ferguson”). We live in a semi-rural area, so tractors are a normal daily sighting and she always gets very excited when the tractor drivers return her waves!
So I was fairly convinced this book would be popular with her, but things that are popular with kids aren’t always that valuable, useful or helpful in their development. This was the opposite, each double page had a different “task” associated with it, naming the animals, matching the animal with the sound, drawing dot to dot to write letters… most of these things for in perfectly with the stage she’s at now at nursery on the Early Years Foundation System (EYFS). We recently had parents evening at nursery and they said it would be helpful to encourage her to make attempts at writing, well this book enables her to have a go at that, combined with a theme that she loves.
I guess my only constructive comments to make are that I’m not totally sure what age the book is aimed at, some things like colours and animal noises are “so last year” for my daughter, yet attempts at writing are a bit ahead of her still, I know all children develop at different rates, and it’s very useful to have something to appeal to children of all abilities, but I can see some pages being left out.
Overall, a good, fun, educational book that is popular with my little tractor spotter and kept her entertained for a good half an hour or so.
I’d give it 4/5, only improvement would be to highlight what age it’s for a little clearer/align with EYFS stages more?
