The Island President is a documentary style film based in The Maldives. It highlights the president Mohammed Nasheed's fight for democracy in his country and his desperation to save the lowest lying country in the world from disappearing under the sea. The film is full of hope and one man’s quest to tackle climate change.

The film is essentially about a paradise close to disaster. The story was thought provoking and tackles real issues that the country faces as it turns to the nation to support them and help save the country and surrounding islands. In the face of adversity they do not give up hope and I found the storyline very inspiring.

If you enjoy politics and world affairs this is definitely a film you will enjoy.
