The Fat Chance Guide to Dieting by Claudia Pattison Review

Reviewed by Dorothy White
Holly, Naomi & Kate meet when they join their local ‘Fat Chance’ Slimming Club which is held in a rustic gastro pub, temptation in itself! Although they are all very different they become firm friends in their attempts to lose weight.
Kate has lost her husband and soul mate, and has turned to food for comfort. She works as a professor of psychology and regularly tries the group leader’s patience.
Holly works as a PA to the creative director of an advertising agency, she lives with her boyfriend, but his mother is always around!
Naomi is a wedding photographer who loves meeting men, she is free and single and doesn’t care whether they are married or not.
Amanda is the Fat Chance group leader who is determined to get her slimmers to the glamorous Slimmer of the Year Awards. She has some rather unique methods of helping people lose weight.
The Fat Chance Guide to Dieting is an entertaining, light hearted read that deals with the issues that anyone who has ever joined a slimming club has to face every day. There are some really funny moments, but the author has also dealt kindly with the distress of being overweight.
The front cover shows a woman using both hands to eat what looks like a fresh cream strawberry gateaux and getting in a right mess, whilst the back cover shows a deliciously tempting cup cake with pink swirly icing!
I can thoroughly recommend this amusing story which many people out there will be able to relate to.
