The AA 2013 Guides
Reviewed by Debbie Talbot
As a family with a 7 year old daughter and 3 month old twin boys we often go out exploring new towns. These guides have been very useful for this purpose:
The AA Restaurant Guide 2013
The book contains over 2000 professionally inspected restaurants. There are lovely village places as well as city ones. There are even handy maps within the book. Lots of contact information is given for each venue which even includes an email address in many cases as well as a phone number. There are beautiful images of some of the eateries within the book. There is a section towards the front of the book giving you the top ten venues for each rosette category. This covers various areas of the UK. There are even articles about top chefs. I would give this book 5/5 for being such a useful resource. I hope to visit many more places within this guide asap. This is a guide you can trust, after all the AA has been inspecting restaurants for over 40 years.
The AA Hotel Guide 2013
This is a fantastic guide to hotels throughout the UK and because the AA have been inspecting hotels for over 100 years, it is a guide you can trust. As with the restaurant guide, there are handy maps throughout the book and lots of useful info for each venue such as a telephone number and email address. Some of the venues have an image which makes the guide very interesting. There are interesting articles and even a section for Hotel of the Year. There is also a useful guide to Hotel Groups so if you have stayed somewhere fantastic you can find other hotels within the same range. Whilst we have not yet had a chance to try out any of the hotels within the guide, we will be in the New Year. We have already used the guide on numerous occasions to recommend hotels to friends and family.
The AA have done a wonderful job on these guides and I would not hesitate to buy these or other titles from their range of guides. With RRPs of £14.99 they are extremely good value.
Value for money: 5/5
