Being a solicitor myself, I was particularly delighted to be asked to review this book. The author is also a solicitor and the book takes us through his fascinating legal career which has taken him all over the world. He has been offered (and grabbed with both hands) the most incredible opportunities which have presented themselves for him to travel across the globe. He recounts his tales over 156 pages divided into 27 chapters about particular countries, cases and clients.
He is clearly a very successful lawyer with a determination to gain clients across the world, even if it means popping into law firms abroad to introduce himself whilst on holiday. A number of his solicitor/client relationships have been examined in detail and I am slightly envious that to date, unlike the author, I have not yet been invited to a lavish wedding in India nor have I been offered the use of a boat complete with cordon bleu chef to sail aimlessly around the Mediterranean!
The author has a wonderful light hearted way of writing which makes the book so easy to read. I read it over 4 evenings, much of the time giggling whilst reading.
It is currently available only in hardback having only been published at the end of November 2011 but I was easily able to find it for sale on Amazon. I will have no hesitation in recommending this book to my colleagues but I am equally confident that non-lawyers will gain just as much from it.
