The Amazing Adventures of Roddy the Magic Cat by Sarah Bates Review

Reviewed by Sharon Garland
The Amazing Adventures of Roddy the Magic Cat by Sarah Bates follows Roddy, along with his friend Hobo the dog, on his travels to Nepal to fulfil his lifelong dream to see Mount Everest. This is the first in a series of books that we take children on a journey around the continents of the world.
My 2 children a boy aged 9 and daughter aged 8, read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it, they really enjoyed the storyline and the adventure that Roddy the cat made. My son was able to read it without any problems, my daughter stumbled on some of the words but quickly broke them down and was able to follow the story easily.
I found the story very good and felt that it was educational in the respect that it gave an insight into how other countries differ to ours, the illustrations we’re very colourful and followed the story well. On the whole both children really enjoyed the book and would happily read it again.
