With Valentines’ day just around the corner, finding a unique gift for that special person in your life is not at all difficult when you find a little gem like this trio of delights! Set in a cute little gift pack, these gorgeous bottles make a beautiful gift for any gin and vodka lover!
It’s said the best things come in small packages. This trio may be small, but they’re perfectly formed and pack quite a punch. Mermaid Gin is hand-crafted on the Isle of Wight using ten honourably sourced botanicals, it provides a smooth yet composite blend of fresh organic lemon zest and peppery grains of bliss, with a hint of sea air from locally foraged, fragrant rock samphire. A refreshing and invigorating serve, for the free-spirited. I had this gin with a slice of lemon and lots of ice and lemonade. It was smoothly refreshing and very moreish.
The second one I tried was the Mermaid Pink Gin.
I found this gin rather aromatic and refreshing. I prefer to drink my gin with lemonade and with this one, I added fresh strawberries to compliment the flavour of fresh Island strawberries with the smooth yet complex taste of this award-winning Mermaid Gin. I agree that this flavour is perfectly balanced, subtle yet vibrant, less sweet than most pink gins and is made with no added sugar. According to the website, the fresh Island strawberries are steeped in the signature smooth gin for four days before being redistilled to create Mermaid Pink Gin with its intensely aromatic, fresh flavour. With a hint of sea air from fragrant rock samphire, our gin is infused with fresh strawberries, creating a refreshingly layered serve.
The third one I tried was the Mermaid Salt Vodka. I was particularly interested in this flavour due to the saltiness. The only salt intake I’ve experienced with alcohol is the lick off the back of the hand before a shot of tequila and. seeing as my tequila days are very much behind me, this little bottle really intrigued me. As with a gentle kiss from a mermaid, Mermaid Salt Vodka is infused with a pinch of locally sourced sea salt, enhancing its smoothness and accentuating its subtle flavour. Breathe in the fresh sea air and savour a hint of the ocean on your lips. This was a very subtle taste and I really enjoyed the refreshing flavour. A delicate vein of salt creates a back note in Mermaid Salt Vodka, which is an excellent addition to a well-stocked bar – ideal for adventurous cocktails or a classic dirty martini. Distinctive and unique, Mermaid Salt Vodka is a favourite among creative mixologists (which I can assure you I am not but I did enjoy this very unique flavour). It adds an air of the sea to your drink – definitely another one that I will most certainly try again!
