Grand Opera House York

Saturday 15 June at 7:30pm

The eagerly anticipated inaugural York Rocks Against Cancer event can now confirm that the Special Guest billing will be Edna’s Hat, a folk rock band made up of current and ex cast members from the UK’s top soap, Emmerdale.

The event which takes place at the Grand Opera House on the 15th June will now include alongside York’s finest covers bands; The Supermodels, The York Turnpike Trust and The Guv’nors, Emmerdale stars; Sian Reese-Williams (GENNIE WALKER) on lead vocals, with fellow co-star Dominic Brunt (PADDY KIRK) rocking out on the Mandolin and recently murdered Carl King! (Tom Lister) on vocals.  Programme scheduler, Nader Mabadi, is on Guitar and Drum (formerly with Take That’s Mark Owen and London based band Milehigh) and the exceptionally talented Steve Mosby from Strangers in Paradise on electric guitar (former collaborations with The Sugarbabes and D’nile).

Also Tony Audenshaw, who plays Bob Hope, will be the compere for the evening and more cast have promised to come and demonstrate their vocal talents.

Ian Surgenor, who has co organised the event along with Graham Bradbury and Julie Russell, says “I am delighted to announce that Edna’s Hat have confirmed they will be playing York Rocks and Tony, who I have known for a while, has also come up trumps by agreeing to compere the evening and get us some great publicity and increase the profile of the event”.

Surgenor and Bradbury have also been busy organising the York Rocks Against Cancer “Down with the Kidz” event   which is at the Grand Opera House on the 24th May and this will include the best of York’s youth rock n roll talent, where the winners of the night will get to play at the main event.
