Cheesecake is a favourite in my household so I was really thrilled to get the chance to try not one but two different chocolate cheesecakes! One was a Toblerone cheesecake and the other was a Daim cheesecake which is fantastic as I love both Toblerone and Daim chocolate. Both cheesecakes are 430g, suitable for vegetarians and can be found in the frozen section at Tescos.

They were easy to find in any large Tesco store (although not so easy to find in any smaller Tesco store) and the packaging looks good although straight away you notice that the Toblerone is not in its iconic triangular prisms but instead is just a layer on the top.

As both cheesecakes are frozen they recommend you defrosting them for 4 – 5 hours before eating. I checked them after 4 hours and they had both completely defrosted by then but you would definitely need to remember to take them out of the freezer several hours before eating them. They also should both be eaten within 24 hours of thawing.

Both cheesecakes are in a plastic container inside the cardboard box and I was impressed with how little packaging there was. The first thing I noticed when I opened the cardboard packaging and took them out was the smell. They both smelt deliciously chocolatey and very appealing.

The cheesecakes do look quite small when you take them out of the cardboard boxes but are recommended to be cut into six servings so would be more than enough to serve a large family.

The base of both cheesecakes was a chocolate flavoured biscuit base (it looked like the same base on both) and was a bit disappointing – crumbly and soft without much flavour. The cheesecake layer on both also tasted the same but was very nice – it is a lovely baked cheesecake and was tasty although quite sweet.

The topping is what is meant to make these cheesecakes special. As I mentioned earlier I am a massive fan of both Toblerone and Daim chocolate and yet I don’t think either of these cheesecakes showcases the chocolate in the best light. On the Daim Cheesecake the topping is smooth milk chocolate and crunchy Daim pieces. If you have the topping on its own then it definitely tastes of Daim but the flavour is almost lost when you eat it with the base and baked cheesecake. On the Toblerone cheesecake the topping is Toblerone’s smooth milk chocolate which tastes lovely but is softer than normal Toblerone and again gets lost when you eat the cheesecake altogether.

I think these are good value for money and are great if you want a quick and easy dessert. However if you are expecting a more luxurious dessert because you see they have Toblerone or Daim chocolate on them then you may be disappointed.

You can buy a variety of other Toblerone and Daim products at Tesco including a two pack of small 85g Daim cheesecakes which would be great for a smaller family.

Rating: 3/5

RRP: £3.50 for each cheesecake (although the Daim cheesecake is £3 with a Tesco Clubcard until 05/07/21)
