Snapsies Surprise Toy Review

Myself and two daughters were thrilled to receive this brand new to the market surprise toy, Snapsies! Created by Funko, the global creators of pop culture collectibles, merchandise, fashion and lifestyle goods, this is the brand’s first toy to be released and I have to say it doesn’t disappoint!

Snapsies come in bright purple, eye catching spheres with a plastic sleeve around. Their packaging is eye-catching and draws you to the product. It also shows how creative you can be with them. These collectable plastic toys offer a range of different animals that children will love to collect, there are 18 in total! Within each sphere you get one of the 18. If you collect more than one, you can then mix and match the different animals and create a whole new one, due to their unique snap feature.

Opening the packaging is really easy. Once the plastic sleeve is taken off via the perforated strip, the purple ball can be snapped open. Inside you get an instruction sheet, collectors information sheet, stickers and a bag, which contains the toy! My daughters were really interested in the collector’s sheet and studied it to see which animals they might get. The fact that you can get ‘trendy’, ‘rare’ and ‘ultra rare’ animals added to the excitement! The stickers, which are different each time, are great quality and look great stuck on the ball. My eldest daughter particularly enjoyed arranging them in a pretty design.

Once the collectors sheet and stickers had been investigated, it was time to reveal the Snapsie! The animal is revelled in a further 2 layers, to add to the excitement! The first layer gives you the animals five accessories – tails, hair, necklace or wings. The final layer reveals the actual animal. One head, two face plates, one torso and two rear ends. The overriding statement from my daughters while unpackaging the different parts was “Yay, so cute!”

The unique feature of these toys is the snap and create feature. I was really impressed with this and as a parent felt it gave an added value/playfactor to it. The snap mechanism is really easy to use with no parts that could easily break off. As for the actual figures the quality is brilliant. The painting on them is really detailed, clear and bright. The fact that you can also get glitter, metallic and flocked parts is another added extra that is a great bonus to this product. We got a ‘flocked’ animal which my daughter was especially thrilled about!

My daughters played for a long while, snapping and changing the different parts about, easily. I particularly love the fact that even if you only have one Snapsie toy, there are still different creative possibilities. With two different rear ends and face plates, my daughters quickly went into play mode and came up with different stories using the different parts. The face plates even enabled them to give the animals different expressions which gave a different dynamic to the game. They then went onto swapping the body parts about to create new combinations – they were happily playing for a good long while! They desperately want the ultra rare, gold metallic Boe!

Overall I’m really impressed with Snapsies and they are a big hit with my daughters! The creative, high quality interchangeable body parts give lots of possibilities for imaginative play and at a price point of well under £10, offer great value for money! I highly recommend these!
