‘A unique blend of strawberry flavoured real dairy cream mixed with a splash of Mexican tequila’
I honestly was not sure whether I would love or hate this drink. As a fan of creamy based liqueur drinks the strawberry flavoured real dairy cream part really appealed to me. The idea of it being mixed with tequila was the part I was apprehensive about. Tequila reminds me of my uni days when I drunk far too many shots of it and I haven’t touched it since. I just remember it having a really harsh taste. After trying Tequila Rose I can honestly say it is one of the nicest drinks I have tried. It tastes like a strawberry milkshake. You can hardly taste the tequila apart from a mild aftertaste.
It arrived well packaged. The bottle was wrapped in bubble wrap and then placed in a box so there was no chance of it being damaged in transit. It was sent next day delivery so arrived super fast.
The bottle design is sleek, chic and very eye catching. The combination of the black glass bottle and the bright pink strawberries and silver roses on the label really make it stand out from other bottles. After browsing the Tequila Rose website I learnt that the black glass bottle keeps the light out to ensure the freshness and flavour. When the bottle is placed in a fridge the silver roses on the label turn pink when it is chilled to perfection which is pretty clever and gives the bottle that extra wow factor. The bottle is almost too nice to throw away when its empty.
Tequila Rose is a very versatile drink. It can be drunk simply as a shot or over ice or as a base for cocktails. On the Tequila Rose website there are loads of recipes for cocktails that can be made using it as a base. I was surprised how many spirits and liqueurs it could be mixed with to make cocktails. Additionally there are recipes for deserts, coffee and milkshakes that can made using Tequila Rose to give an adult element to them.
Firstly I tried Tequila Rose as shot and over ice and it was simply delicious. It was sweet and creamy to drink. I could easily have drunk the full bottle all to myself it was that moreish. After browsing through the recipes on the website I tried making a couple of cocktails with it was a base. I made one by mixing it with another liqueur and another by mixing it with a spirit. The liqueur one was Desert Rose which was Tequila Rose, Irish Cream liqueur and grenadine. This was so nice and tasted super sweet and creamy. The spirit one was Colada Fresca which was a mix of Tequila Rose and coconut flavoured rum. I wasn’t sure how well a spirit would mix with it but the coconut and strawberry flavours mixed well together.
Tequila Rose is 15% volume. The bottle is a decent size for the price at £12 for 50cl.

Though this drink seemed to be marketed more towards women my husband tried and enjoyed the drink just as much as me. I will definitely be buying this again. This bottle won’t last long! There are several more recipes I would like to try. The pink coffee, strawberry milkshake and the vodka mix cocktails sound delectable.
