Having never stayed at a Holiday Inn, I really did not know what to expect. Check in from was from 2pm and check out from 12pm.
When we arrived the lobby and reception area were very clean, bright and welcoming. The restaurant and bar are to the right and reception desk on the left. Trudie booked in, an Executive Guest Room. Trudie was extremely polite, well groomed and friendly. She gave us directions to our room. Walking to our room we saw a quadrant outdoor area, with plants, seating and paths, our immediate thought is our children would love to get their scooters out there!
The corridors are well lit, clean with modern pictures and promotional artwork. It is a large hotel and we walked through a maze of corridors until we reached our room.
The room was extremely clean, with a sofa and chair at the far side of the room. The bathroom is white and bright and again very clean. There is a heated towel rail and products that are provided were, shampoo, body lotion and shower gel, shoe shine, nail file and shower caps!
Bathrobes are also included in the Executive Room and they were white and fluffy. The room was spacious with plenty of hangers, a trouser press, iron/ironing board. Tea/Coffee making facilities and a safe were also provided within the room.
What I really like about the room were the sliding wooden blinds at the windows. They pulled across and kept all the light out and looked really lovely! They had a Japanese feel to them.
The only negative that I would say about the room was it was FREEZING when we arrived. I actually made a hot drink and put the robe over my clothes to warm myself up while the heater started to warm the room.
Now I do need to say that we only used the hotel as a place to sleep as we were out in Aylesbury, Trudie called us a taxi and we waited in the lobby. The bar looked modern and clean and had a TV. We were actually disappointed that we didn’t have the time to utilise all that the hotel has to offer. The pool looked lovely, the menu looked tasty and we plan on the next time we stay on taking advantage fully of the facilities!
After our night out the room was a lot warmer, and I have to say the bed was so comfortable. We both had a great night sleep.
The next morning came a very important test in our opinion… the shower! WOW it was fantastic, I certainly did not want to get out. So, powerful but can be adjusted to your preference. Great!
It came to time to leave all too quickly for us and check out was simple.
Holiday Inn Aylesbury gets a 4.5/5 for me on room comfort. I cannot rate any other facilities but the staff we did have contact with, were exceptionally polite and helpful and get 5/5! Well done!
