Rubik’s 3 X 3 Review

THIS ITEM WAS GIFTED TO THE REVIEWER FOR THE PURPOSES OF WRITING THE REVIEW. ALL THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ARE THE REVIEWER'S OWN.

My oh my, I was so delighted when asked to review this nostalgic 80s toy that I could not wait to get started once I received it.

I was a mere 12 year old when I I first clapped eyes on this awesome cube and have been hooked ever since, so much so, I brought one for myself the year I turned 50 as I had an amazing 80’s themed party.  So you can imagine how excited I was to review one of these.

The first thing I noticed about this one, was that the colours were in fact not stickers, this means, no un-pealing to move them around and cheat, just solid, plastic colours, it is the original.

If you are new to the Rubik’s Cube, originally known as the Magic Cube (bit of history thrown in for you newbies), the aim is to get all colours on each side of the cube.  There are the following colours:-

1.                 Yellow

2.                 Orange

3.                 Blue

4                  Green

5.                 White

6.                 Red

The cube arrived in a very strong, sturdy and sealed unit and all the colours were complete on each side of the cube.  To play the cube, you need to give the cube a really good mix up and the jumble the colours around and only there, are you ready for the challenge to put all the colours back together again on each side.

Now, this is where the fun begins… there are no instructions with the cube to help you complete it.  You can find more information by visiting the link below in A, however, I found it very complex indeed. If you are like me and need to have someone actually show you how to do it, I have listed another link that is far more easy to follow below too in step B.  The good thing about the link in B. also shows you how to get to know the cube and how to handle it.

Allow yourself plenty of time, in fact, 24 minutes and 45 seconds to watch this video.  It is worth it and you can     always pause the video to practice the steps and get use the feel of the Rubik cube.  You may find other videos             that work better for you.

How will you complete your Rubik’s cube?  Well, with 43 quintillion combinations,  you will not fall short of finding a combination that works for you.  This is not just about getting all the sides complete with the same colour but it is also about the technique in how you move the components and most importantly, how quickly you can actually complete it in.

Would I recommend the Rubik’s Cube?  Absolutely 100%, it is a game changer in so many ways.  The youth of today will enjoy is, as did my 14 year old Grandson.  Kept him busy for hours and what made it more enjoyable was the fact that he was not glued to his iPhone/iPad and wasting time.  Yes, he used the iPad to watch the video I mentioned above but once he started to memorise the sequence, the use of the iPad became less and less and he actually told me how much he enjoyed it.

For just £8.99 (Was £12.99), it is worth every penny and can be brought from Amazon.
