As this was my first review I was very excited to see the show, I had invited along my soon-to-be sister in law and we were looking forward to enjoying a night of comedy.

We arrived at The Lowry in Salford Quays early as I have been to shows there in the past and have always noted that the shows start very promptly, so was surprised that a support act came on before the main show. Despite some heckling and lack of compliance from some audience members, he turned out to be very funny and a good act to ‘lube up the audience’ as he put it.

After a short interval, just long enough to spend a small fortune on a Capri Sun! It was time for Russell to come onto the stage. I had previously seen him on TV shows but not seen him do stand up, I would highly recommend him to anyone. He had the whole audience in fits of laughter from the moment he skidded onto the stage, to his final gag. He entertained with a range of accents, jokes and scenarios, all based around the word ‘small’. His impressions of people from Manchester and them suffering from ‘Mancinsons’ we’re hilarious and had even the truest of Mancs laughing their heads off!

The way in which he told the stories, using audience members as examples was very clever and effective. One particular guy on the front row was from Italy and served as a perfect contrast to the uninspiring English persona he was portraying.

All in all we had a fantastic night, great seats, with a perfect view but at a safe distance from the stage! A very clever, inoffensive comedian and a whole load of belly laughs! I would definitely recommend a visit to The Lowry and Russell Kane’ s tour to anyone who wants a nice relaxed evening which will brighten your day.
