Defacto Minnie Mouse Licenced Boots – Black Review

THIS ITEM WAS GIFTED TO THE REVIEWER FOR THE PURPOSES OF WRITING THE REVIEW. ALL THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ARE THE REVIEWER'S OWN.

There’s not many people who don’t love Disney so we were delighted to be chosen to review a pair of classic Minnie Mouse styled boots. In the deep dark depths of December, these arrived at a perfect time. It’s not stopped raining for a couple of days so the right time to really try them out and put them through their paces!

At first glance, the boots are attractive and come in the classic Disney colours of a combination of white, red and black. Old school Disney at their best. They resemble the original Disney Illustration colours from the first cartoons.

The bottom section of the boots, up to just below the ankle, is made from a heavy duty black waterproof rubber. This section feels thick and solid – a good quality welly boot. When turning the boot upside down we noted that they have thick deep grips on the soles (perfect for icy walks). The pattern of the grips is quite attractive too, not that I think it is a practical consideration, more of a design feature, but they appear to have small flowers in the middle. I am sure these would create a pretty footprint in the snow!

There is a small heel – not enough for the boot to look impractical but made from solid rubber.

Above this section of rubber, the material changes. It’s a waterproof, soft fabric which comes up to knee height. This material is printed fabric showing a cartoon style layout of Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse showing different facial expressions! The expressions illustrated are Minnie showing a heart shape with her fingers, and then another winking and a third with Minnie smiling! Mixed in with the Minnie illustrations, there are also ones of Mickey Mouse pulling his tongue out and winking! My niece loved these illustrations and loved emulating the expressions herself.

After a good test drive of a wet Winter walk, we found that the fabric of this part wiped down easily and the mud came off without staining the illustrated area at all.

Moving to the inner of the boots, the lining is a soft cream fur which is so very warm. This lining is only on the reverse of the top fabric so runs down to the ankles – it’s a shame that it isn’t where the actual foot part is as that’s often the area where we get complaints of cold toes although I am not sure how practical that would be!

The review item we tested was a European size 33 (Uk 11.5) but these boots are available from a 30 to 35. The fit seemed good and seemed comfortable around the calf and foot area.

Overall we give the boots a huge thumbs up! The boots are practical, chunky and well made. My niece liked the design on the boots and found them extremely comfortable and warm.
