The excitement level was through the roof in our house when I gave our five year old this toy. The doll is packed in a hard plastic container shaped like a house / spaceship, we could just see the head of the doll through a clear plastic window at the top.
When we opened up the container it was full of surprises, the wheels on the bottom were removed and these where actually a Segway for the doll to travel about on. We removed the two pink packages at either side of the doll’s head and opened them up to reveal more goodies, a very cute pink and silver all in one suit for the doll that matched the rabbit eared helmet she was wearing, a couple of accessories to add to the Segway, a small pink and white case which I think was a type of space pet for the doll, a little feeding bottle, a clear plastic star and the all important sheet of stickers. There was also something on the front of the container that when we removed it turned out to be a dummy for the doll. We had such fun exploring all the packages and finding out what they were and how to use them.
First job for us was to decorated the house/spaceship with the stickers, then get the doll dressed in her suit, it’s made from a soft flexible material, it was quite tricky to get it onto the doll, our 5 year old couldn’t manage it herself but I think it may get softer and easier to manipulate with more use.
Next we thought it was time to try feeding, the top of the little bottle is not removable to fill you have to squeeze it, immerse in water and it will fill when you release the squeeze. It is a little tricky to feed the cry baby with the bottle, we found we were getting an airlock and the water spilled out so I would recommend putting a towel down before you start this process, we cheated a little and put extra water into the doll by removing the stopper at the back of her head to make sure we got plenty of tears. The tears come when the dolls checks are squeezed, you can collect some of the tears into the little star shaped vessel and this is when the magic happens, place the star on top of the house/spaceship and leave in sunlight for a day then it should start to glow in the dark.
There are three dolls to collect in this range Coney, Sydney and Lady, the one I am reviewing is Coney, they are all suitable for children 3 years and above. To add even more surprises some packs come with an extra accessory.
There is so much play packed into this little pack. On a practical note one of the things I really liked was that everything can be stored away in the house/spaceship to avoid the smaller items getting lost.
This a lovely gift for any child and is available from smythstoys.com priced at £14.99 but at the time of writing this it is reduced to £12.99
