Sudocrem is a trusted brand and one I have been using since the days of my children being in nappies, my eldest is now in his mid twenties. Back then it was the go to pot in the medicine cupboard, known for its healing antiseptic qualities, used for all manor of ailments from nappy rash to sunburn and every other little scrape in between.  So I was more than happy to review Sudocrem Skin Recovery Cream. It came in a 30g tube, in its own carboard box which contained information about the product and instruction for use. On the side of the box it tells me the three main purposes are; Soothes – cares for sensitive skin, Calms – helps to calm redness and Protects – a barrier against redness.

I also received two handy size pots of ‘my little Sudocrem’, one of which I passed onto my teenage daughter, she was really happy to have saying that’s perfect for my makeup bag. when I asked her if she thought she would use it, she rolled her eyes at me (as teenagers do) “of course I will, Sudocrem is what every teenager I know uses when we have a breakout of spots” She then indicated at the huge pot on her dressing table!

The pot itself is the perfect size fitting snugly into the palm of your hand, it would fit into the smallest of bags or even your pocket, it very tactile in design, smooth and round and the lid cleverly screws on ensuring no risk of opening or spillage. There is a protective foil covering which peels back to reveal a familiar fragrance, but it is not overpowering. The consistency is firmer than the traditional Sudocrem and when gently rubbed it has an oil like quality a bit like a good non sticky lip gloss. It absorbs quickly leaving no residue, I think I would use it as a protective barrier on say a windy day or if I had a dry patch of skin, but I think my daughter and her friends would be using it on the unexpected spot when out and about.

Now back to the Skin Recovery Cream, Its tag line on the packaging is “Helps to calm red and sensitive skin”. It also goes on to say that it is suitable for all skin types and can be used as often as you need. This all indicates to me it is a gentle product and one that I have confidence in trying out.

On the ‘how to use section’ it said to apply a THIN layer as required, this is the only thing I found I had a bit of difficulty doing, as you squeeze the tube it does come out quite thickly, so you only need a tiny amount, initially when rubbed onto the skin it is like a face mask with a white/creamy effect however once rubbed into the skin it is absorbed with an initial residue but this film quickly disappears leaving the skin feeling very supple and moisturised with a barrier against the elements.

My skin did feel incredibly soft and supple after use. I found I could happily use it alongside my usual moisturiser and make up, after the initial absorption it did not feel at all heavy, only added to the care I was giving my skin. My complexion was clear and skin felt healthy.
