With Christmas over, thoughts can now turn to Valentine’s Day on 14th February and ways to treat our loved ones to show that we care. We’re not huge romantics in our household, but I’m not averse to giving (and receiving) sweet treats as a romantic gesture so when I was asked to try some Floozie Stuffed Cookies I was more than happy to oblige.

Floozie Cookies are the brainchild of Canadian pastry chef Kimberley Lin. They have a store in London’s Covent Garden with more planned to open soon. They also offer a mail order shop for cookies, with freshly baked cookies being dispatched within 48 hours of orders being received Monday – Friday.

Floozie Cookies are stuffed cookies which are all 100% vegan. There are eight cookie flavours to choose from, this includes a changing monthly special. Cookies can be bought individually for £3.50 or in boxes of multiples of six cookies, starting at £17.50 for six. I was lucky enough to be sent a box of six cookies to try. The cookies arrived in a plastic postage bag via courier, inside was a pale pink box with two sliding drawers with three cookies in each. The cookies were individually wrapped in plastic. There was also a card showing the different flavours of cookies and pictures so we knew which was which. First impressions were that they looked nice, but not quite as exciting and full of filling as they appeared on the website. But of course, with cookies, taste is everything.

Our selection of cookies was made up of Cinnamon Crunch, Celebration Cookie, Blackforest, Chocolate Chunk, Pecan Pie and Peanut Butter & Jelly. We dutifully sat down for a taste test, diligently dividing each cookie into quarters so everyone had the same, and then tucked in. All of the cookies were nice, although I personally found them a little on the sweet side (and I have a sweet tooth!) but there were no such complaints from the children. We were a little disappointed at the amount of filling in the cookies, as it was really just a very thin layer in the middle, rather than a sumptuous oozing filling as shown on the images on the website. We thought perhaps they had got squashed in the post, but as they were in a box this probably wasn’t the case.

Anyway, having put the cookies to the test we agreed that our favourites were Celebration Cookie (a very bright pink cookie filled with raspberry jam), Cinnamon Crunch (vanilla cookie filled with “speculoos” cream) and Blackforest (fudge cookie, dark chocolate and sour cherry compote) although they were all very nice and it was a close-run contest.

Two of the cookies (Blackforest and Peanut Butter & Jelly) were extremely soft and fell apart when we tried to pick them up, we later realised that they were both gluten free so this could explain it.

Overall, we enjoyed the cookies, they would make a lovely gift for a loved one on valentine’s day (or a treat at any time of the year for that matter) and I think anyone would be delighted to receive them. The fact that they are all vegan and have gluten free options is a bonus as they would be suitable for nearly everybody.
