Clementine Rose and the Farm Fiasco by Jacqueline Harvey Review

Reviewed by Dawn Watson
My daughters and I were delighted to be chosen to review the fourth book in the Clementine Rose series, The Farm Fiasco. Another series by the very talented Jacqueline Harvey.
Each book tells the adventures and stories of little Clementine Rose – a 5 year old primary school girl. This particular book is aimed at early readers age 7+. However both my 7 year and 11 year olds enjoyed this particular book. My youngest was happy to read along with me and only really struggled with characters or place names, whereas my oldest wanted to take it off and read to herself, she did however admit that it was probably more aimed at her sisters age.
For an early reader it was made even more special with the lovely illustrations dotted throughout the book, helping bring the story to life and ideal for first time chapter readers who are sometimes more used to many more pictures, it is a great easy transition from picture books to proper ‘chapter books’.
This particular story tells of how Clementine and her classmates are excited to be going on their first school trip to a farm much to their delight. However as the story unfolds nothing goes quite according to plan, with lost school teachers, mishaps and lots more. Without giving too much of the story away, as the title suggests it is based on the goings on their trip to the farm, the feisty animals, the unpredictable animals, the missing teachers and the different characters and the adventures they had that day.
Could Clementine save the day?? Well you will just have to read it to find out!
We loved the ‘Cast of Characters’ at the end, what a great idea.
A fun, easy to read and understand book in the Clementine Rose series – perfect for little girls moving on from picture books to proper chapter books. We look forward to reading of more of Clementine’s adventures.
