I felt a little underdressed when I arrived at the Grand Theatre in Swansea last night. Psychedelic flares and hippy chic seemed the order of the night as audience members embraced all things 70’s. I was a little apprehensive as a definite child of the 80’s I wasn’t sure I’d know enough of the music to really enjoy the entire experience but when the band started performing and the toe started tapping I knew I was in for a good night.

The show is performed by a six piece band of very talented musicians. They took you on awesome journey through the music of the seventies embracing many genres from the pop of Donnie Osmond to the Glam Rock of Marc Bolan. My apprehension about not knowing the music was completely unfounded as I found myself singing along to almost the entire show. The band had carefully selected classics that would reach the entire audience satisfying those looking for a trip down memory lane and those like me who just love music. During the first half we were highly entertained if not a little warmed up by the band with hits from Grease and the Carpenters to name but a few. I sang along merrily throughout and there was lots of arm waving and clapping along. The lead singers really embraced the audience including us in a joke or two.

The show had a short interval of 20 minutes where we got to sample the delights of the stalls bar of the Grand Theatre. Interval drinks were available to reserve prior to the show cutting the cues short for that short break. The stalls bar is a relaxed area that has the beautiful original features of the theatre. The bar staff were friendly and accommodating.

During the second half of the show the audience came into their own. With hits from Saturday Night Fever, Queen, the Bay City Rollers the audience were dancing in the aisles and at the stage. The band positively encouraged the audience participation and made you feel like a really important part of the show.

So in my humble opinion everyone should don their flares, step into their platforms and step back in time and visit this fantastic show that has you dancing in the aisles, waving your arms and singing along from beginning to end.  This show deserves a show stopping 5/5.
