I always find vacuum flasks useful for walks or when travelling as you always have either a hot or cold drink at hand.
This vacuum flask is available on Amazon and it arrived promptly in a paper mailing bag for me to review it. Inside there was a rectangular cardboard box grey in colour with silver and black writing. The style is very smart and modern with the outline of the flask in black and the logo and name Super Sparrow in silver. Also found on the box are drawings of friendly looking alien creatures which I think is aimed at making a flask more appealing to a younger audience. Most of the information you need is written on this box and it is nicely laid out so even with alien doodles on the box I thought the design was attractive.
Inside the cardboard box wrapped in white tissue paper is the flask. My flask is mainly blue with stainless steel silver edge to the lid and base of the flask. It states it can hold 750ml so I decided to test this out using a measuring jug and guess what? It does! Unlike the old style vacuum flasks, this one is extremely robust as it is made of stainless steel and the vacuum flask has a special double-walled vacuum insulated “insu-Shield” insulation that is supposed to keep hot drinks hot for up to 12 hours whilst cold drinks are kept cold for up to 24 hours. I cannot wait to try this out. The lid (as is the case with most vacuum flasks) acts as a cup as well. What is particularly nice about this flask is that the lid makes a good size cup as often I have found these too small with other flasks and is very comfortable to hold. What impresses me too about that the flask is that it comes with a lifetime warranty apart from the silicon seal parts which they recommend replacing every year. I looked up the accessory section on their website but I could not see these so I do not know the cost of replacements but in the instruction pamphlet it says contact Super Sparrow for these.
The instruction pamphlet is written in ten different languages including English. The instructions are clear and easy to follow though you do need to practise following the instructions to disassemble and assemble the lid which are partly written together with illustrations as I was not quite sure what to do despite the instructions until I had a go and then it is really straight forward to do. Following the instructions, I then filled the bottle with boiling water and left it for five minutes. I then emptied it and decided to test how to use the seal lid. You can either unscrew this from the bottle so liquid can pour directly into the cup or you can partially open the lid top so only a small amount of liquid is released and then this can be closed again.
I really like the fact that once you have used it, the bottle can go in the dishwasher which makes life so much easier, however just be aware that it is not for use in the microwave as it is made of metal.
The vacuum flask comes in 10 different colours, (mine was sky blue) but there are others shades of blue, and green, as well as grey, black, lilac and orange. All these colours I found attractive so you are spoilt for choice.
I have mentioned bottle as well as flask or vacuum flask for this “object” as bottle is what is written in the instructions (though the cardboard box in which it comes in clearly states vacuum flask), but I do feel they need to mention vacuum flask rather than bottle as this shows the benefits of the flask as opposed to a bottle such as the lid acting as a cup and holding more liquid and keeping liquid either warm or cold for longer. I did test the time for cold drinks in my flask and they did stay cold for 12 hours. The only thing that would make it perfect and so get 5 out of 5 would be if there was another smaller cup which fitted inside the lid so you can share drinks with a friend.
