Always on the look out for baby items, especially those designed to make life as a mummy easier, I was keen to try this carrier designed to support your baby as it grows.
The parcel arrived as a simple cardboard box. The item itself was then packaged within a cardboard box with white detailing and an attractive floral design. Key details are provided written on the base of the box, and the box folds together to open and close so easy to access without having to rip the box apart so it can be used for storage later on. I was pleased to note, on an environmental front, that there is no plastic or any unnecessary packaging at all and the box itself is advertised as recyclable which is great. A printed user guide is included with instructions in multiple languages. The use of picture designs to show how each carrying position is made is easily accessible and understandable.

The STOKKE Limas Carrier Flex comes in 9 different colour and pattern combinations so there is plenty of choice for parents. I personally liked how all the colours and patterns are unisex in nature so encourages the item to be passed on for use with siblings even of a different sex and also prevents one parent from not wanting to use a particular stereotyped colour item. The colour palettes used across all the designs are tastefully muted rather than lots of bright colours. I was lucky enough to be able to choose my colour and so was sent the ‘boho beige’ design which has a cream base and abstract line design in a grey-brown which I hoped my husband would be happy to wear as well. It is exactly as photographed on the website, so I would feel confident buyers would be happy with their design choice when ordered online.
The STOKKE Limas Carrier Flex itself is part of a range of 3 carriers by STOKKE. The choice allows parents to choose a design on their priority from weight to method of carrying. This carrier can be used from one month (one of the others, the STOKKE Limas Carrier can be used from newborn) and takes the largest weight of all STOKKE’s carriers (4-20kg). according to the UK average weight for a child., this should allow the carrier to be used up to around a 5 year old child. The adjustable base and back panel within the design are what enable the carrier to grow with your child.

The STOKKE Limas Carrier Flex can be used to carry on the back, front or onbuhimo (waistless carrying for those that like me are not familiar with this term; specifically described to be ‘a traditional Japanese style for baby back carrying without a waistbelt’). It is not designed to use on the hip, unlike the other two in the range, but with 3 different positions it still seems more than enough. The carrier is the only one in the range to use a full buckle, so no tying is required making it easy to put on. For me being able to put on a carrier myself when out alone with a young child is vital. I think it takes a bit of practice, like with any traditional carrier, but with confidence this is achievable.
Although insertable shoulder pads are not included (unlike in the other 2), the shoulder pads are already well padded and there certainly seems to be sufficient attention to comfort in the design. The waist belt is extendable to from 60 to 140cm however, if required, an extended can be purchased to further increase this.
The STOKKE Limas Carrier Flex is made from 100% cotton and is indeed beautifully soft, so perfect to hold your precious cargo. Crucially the carrier can be washed on a low spin at 40 degrees so easy to keep clean which is needed when carrying a small child. Nothing needs to be removed and re added upon drying which is ideal for parents wanting life just to be a little easier.
The carrier is designed to make baby wearing easy and I would agree with this claim. I would certainly recommend this as a must have to parents or parents to be who are wanting a comfortable easy to use carrier to allow them to babywear. The price is also reasonable and comparative to other similar carriers from other known popular brands. We now already own several different STOKKE items and are fast becoming big fans of this brand due to the consideration given to style, comfort and ease of use.
Rating: I would give this product a rating of 4 out of 5.
