Splash About Ear Bands and UV Sun & Sea Suit Review

We’re off on our first family holiday for a very long time soon, so I was absolutely delighted to be offered the opportunity to review not only the Splash About Ear Bands but also the Splash About UV Sun & Sea Suit, for my 3 year old daughter.
Having tried products from the Splash About range before, I was excited to receive my package and I didn’t have to wait long at all. I chose the pink Ear Bands and the Strawberry Field UV Sun & Sea Suit to review, as I was keen for both items to match each other.
The items arrived individually wrapped in clear plastic sleeves, inside a postal envelope. They arrived in pristine condition. My first impressions of the items were that they exuded quality and I couldn’t wait to get my daughter to the swimming pool, to test them out.
Splash About Ear Bands:
The Ear Bands are the latest, new swimming accessory from Splash About. They are made from 2mm thick neoprene, it’s basically a wide strap, which goes around the ears and Velcro-fastens at the back of the child’s head. The purpose of the band is three-fold:
(1) To keep water out of the child’s ears; I know from personal experience, when I was a child, how uncomfortable it can be when you get water in your ear while swimming and having to try and clear your ear afterwards;
(2) To keep ear plugs in place. Although my daughter doesn’t wear ear plugs, I can definitely see the advantage of this. Also, it stops the child fiddling with any ear plugs which are in;
(3) To keep hair out of eyes – children don’t generally wear swim hats for recreational swimming, so sometimes their hair can be a bit wayward.
The Ear Bands are adjustable and stretchy and therefore, one size fits all – they are designed for ages 2-6 years only, which is prime swimming lesson age, when you’re trying to give confidence and encourage a love of swimming.
The Ear Bands area available in 5 different colours (pink, lilac, red, pistachio and cashmere blue), so there’s something for everyone and they perfectly compliment Splash About’s range of swimwear and wetsuits.
My daughter wasn’t sure about it at first (but that’s nothing new!), but as the swim session went on, she got used to it. I think it’s a brilliant idea. Although, coupled with goggles, it could make your head feel a bit bulky. We’ll keep practising! They’re suitable for any swimming occasion, including swimming lessons, beach trips and general splashing about in the pool.
The Ear Bands have an RRP of £5.99, which I think is brilliant value for a swim accessory such as this and I’d be more than happy to pay that price.
Splash About UV Sun & Sea Suit:
This UV Sun & Sea Suit is fantastic! Made from a combination of supple 1mm neoprene wetsuit and with super soft nylon/ elastane sleeves and side panels. The Strawberry Field design is absolutely stunning, featuring a pink neoprene body, with a beautiful strawberry design on the front and the side panels and sleeves are adorned with mini strawberries.
There are 12 beautiful designs in total, so again, there’s something to suit everyone’s taste. This Suit is available in two different sizes – age 1-2 years and age 2-4 years, with some of the designs also offering, 4-6 years.
As my daughter is 3 years old, I opted for the age 2-4 years. It fit her perfectly, with plenty of room for growth too. She looked comfortable and happy whilst wearing it.
At the swimming pool, as the suit zips right up the back, it was easy put on and take off. It has a high neck, to give extra sun protection to this sensitive area, plus three-quarter length sleeves and legs. The material makes the suit wonderfully flexible, which is important for very active children for swimming and playing on the beach. My daughter likes to climb out of the pool and jump back in, she had no issues doing this. Also, her armbands fitted well over the material on the sleeve.
Some of the other benefits of the suit, which make it brilliant for this age group, particularly are:
It has UVA and UVB Sun Protection of UKF50+, which makes it ideal for sunny holidays, to protect delicate skin (neck, back & shoulders in particular);
It is wind, sand and weatherproof;
It maintains core body warmth, keeping children warm whether they’re playing in or out of water, keeping them playing longer;
It dries quickly (hand wash only in cold water to maintain the properties and quality);
It won’t fade after prolonged sun or chlorine exposure.
What’s not to love! I think this is a brilliant product and it’s going to be perfect to take on our holiday in the sun.
The UV Sun & Sea Suit has an RRP of £25, which I believe is pretty reasonable for a product such as this, especially as each age range spans a 2 year period, unlike a lot of similar products, whereby you generally get a 1 year age bracket. I would happily pay this price for such a high quality product.

In summary, I loved these products, they looked great, were of exceptional quality and my daughter was happy to wear them too, which is always a bonus. They come with great functionality and I’ll be recommending these products to my friends with children of a similar age. I cannot speak highly enough of these products.
