So You Think You Know About Dinosaurs at The Capitol Horsham Review

14 March 2018

Me and my daughter, aged 7, went to The Capitol theatre in Horsham last night (14 March 2018) to see So You Think You Know About Dinosaurs. The show is presented by Dr Ben Garrod, who is a well-known TV scientist and has also starred alongside David Attenborough in the BBC’s Attenborough and the giant dinosaur.

This show explores some of the deadliest predators that ran the planet millions of years ago and how we thought these dinosaurs looked and sounded like could actually be wrong. The show is very interactive giving the children plenty of opportunities to call out the answers to some questions about various dinosaur facts and I would urge any parent going to read up on your dinosaur knowledge as a lot of these kids seem to know an amazing amount and put a lot of adults to shame.

There is also footage shown from the BBC’s Planet Dinosaurs, as well as photos and film footage from his own paleontological dig which makes it all the more interesting and adds a personal touch.

I found the show extremely interesting and was amazed to find out that dinosaurs didn’t roar but would have sounded more like a pigeon and that a T. rex would have had feathers. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the show as did I. Dr Ben Garrod also took the time to answer as many questions from the kids at the end and also did a book signing after the show, his books were available to buy before and after the show and it was great to be able to get them signed. He was also answering more questions at the signing. It was great to see he had time for each and every child and he didn’t rush them either.

This was our first visit to The Capitol in Horsham and was very easy find, the parking was a little confusing, but we parked at the leisure centre only a few minutes walk away. There was lots of reasonable priced snacks and drinks and very helpful staff making our first visit extremely enjoyable. The only downside was that I found you don’t get much leg room in the seats, but they are very comfortable.

Overall, I found the show captivating, informative and educational and great for any dinosaur loving child aged around 5 upwards.

Rating: 5/5
