Skip Hop Nova Narwhal Kids Backpack

We were pleased to receive the Nova Narwhal Backpack from the Skip Hop Zoo collection to review. My oldest daughter is 5 years old, she adores anything girly, purple and of course sparkly.  This backpack fully meets that brief so she was delighted when she laid her eyes on it.

On arrival packaging was pleasingly minimal, the bag itself protected in a bag and then in a box for delivery.

The back pack has a playful and very cute narwhal character, my daughter initially thought it was a unicorn because of the horn but was happy enough to accept it was a whale after some debate.
The backpack, predominately purple, has a contrasting white front pocket and a sparkly tail details, a cute character smiling face complete with horn and button eyes. My favourite part is the sparkly sea shell zip, perfect for little hands to grip so they can easily open and close. The bag also features a useful adjustable side pocket perfect for drinks bottles or cups.

The bag itself is a decent size with a roomy main compartment, big enough to fit in all her school supplies, but could equally be used as a nursery bag (plenty of room for a change of clothes, wipes, nappies and snacks). The front pocket has a mesh separator for easy access to small belongings.  For reference it measures approx 25.5cm wide, 29cm wide and 10cm deep.

The straps are padded, adjustable and comfortable for my daughters little shoulders, she just loves it and was so excited to show it off at school. There is also a name tag inside which can be written on with you child’s name. The inside can be easily wiped clean.

The bag itself I cannot fault at all, it is high quality, really well made and I think will stand the test of time.
Skip Hop are a well respected baby and kids brand, I have had a few of their items previously (changing bag and changing station) the quality speaks for itself. I would not hesitate to recommend their items.

I was pleased to see the rest of the matching Narwhal range from Skip Hop, lunch bags, boxes and drinks bottles with the same adorable character. There are also other characters to choose from from which are equally cute including a monkey, fox, butterfly and unicorn, and so many more, there’s definitely something for everyone. The range of characters and accessories is massive and can be seen at skiphop.com I particularly like the lunch containers and have also got my eye on the Narwhal plate and bowl set for my weaning baby too.

The backpack is available from many major retailers for around £20 which is a reasonable price and I would be happy to pay this amount for a bag of this quality, the price is comparable to similar items on the market, the best price I could find was £18 from Dotty Hippo (prices correct at time of writing review)
