My girls have always wanted a dog and recently they’ve really upped their puppy pleading game. Cue the pawfect opportunity to present them with their very own Show N Tell Pet, Pupkin the Puppy.

Pretty, pink Pupkin stands at just 12cm tall. Yes, he’s pretty small. Similar yet chunkier and much brighter in design to Sylvanian Family toys, the first thing this Mum noticed was the fabric – the kind that seems to collect dirt and isn’t easily cleaned (a gentle soak and a little pat dry – no rubbing as this will remove the flocking). But ‘a little dirty’ can translate to ‘much-loved’ and Pupkin has accompanied this family on the school-run, joined us for walks in the woods and regularly sits next to the table at mealtimes. It’s the kind of product that will hang around until the next toy tips the trend. But it’s also one that will reappear and no doubt receive regular invitations to teddy bear picnics.

Pupkin is one of four collectible pets in the Kindi Kids range. Each Show ‘n’ Tell Pet comes with it’s very own Shopkin Toy or Accessory. Pupkin has a colourful doughnut dog toy which when placed over his mouth, creates magnetic magic that makes his glittery eyes blink and his head wobble. It’s quite a basic feature but the kids love playing Tug of War with their new pet. And so far, Pupkin is showcasing a sturdy design.

Each of the 4 cute Kindi pets comes to life through it’s own unique movement, courtesy of their supplied Shopkin toy. Kindi Kids are dolls; the cutest Pre-Schoolers you’ll ever see. They love attending Rainbow Kindi; a place where every day is about playing and making friends. And now, each of the 4 Kindi Kids has their own adorable pet, which has a similar look and style to their Kindi Kid owner.

Pupkin has an owner called Donatina, but as far as my girls are concerned, he’s solely theirs. They are also unaware of
Pirouetta and her pet Caterina the Kitty, they haven’t yet heard of Bella Bow and her friend Teah the Koala and Marsha Mello along with Marlo the Bunny are still a mystery. Pupkin is perfectly happy as an ‘only pet’ and the girls are equally as content to have just the one playful pal (that is, until they realise there’s an opportunity to collect Kindi Kids and their Show N Tell Pets.) Both the pets and the dolls work as stand alone toys but you just know that the kids are bound to be subject to some gentle pressure to collect the whole set.

Show N Tell Pets are designed for children age 3 and over and Pupkin is indeed loved by my 3 and 5 year-old girls. The rainbow packaging will certainly attract and excite the kids and it does make for a very cute gift. With a RRP of £9.99 (though I have spotted it cheaper) it’s an affordable, well-presented present that is likely to be well-received.
