Toys For Kids – Childrens Toys | Casdon

Breakfast is served with this gorgeous roleplay Breakfast set this Christmas, the Casadon Toy Morphy Richards Kitchen Set.  This fab set is based on actual real Morphy Richard kitchen appliances you may already have in your own home! This super cute (but very realistic) breakfast set includes a refillable coffee maker with coffee pot, a kettle (it even has a water-level indicator on in another nod to realism) and a toaster with two pieces of pretend toast and a pop up function so they can pretend to make toast just like mummy or daddy does!  Cutlery, two cups and even pretend food (sausage and egg-so your little one can make their very own pretend fry up for you!) are also thrown into the mix. Perhaps your little one will even use it to treat you to your very own breakfast in bed this Christmas?

Suitable for ages 3 and up (although I feel like children as young as 18 months would absolutely love this with some careful supervision), my four year old son absolutely loved playing with this set.  We’re big fans of water play, so we used the kettle and coffee machine as part of water play, practicing ‘pouring’ out into the cups provided and watching the coffee machine filter out into the detachable cup.  My son also found the push down and pop up motion of the toaster addictive, and, unlike many pretend kitchen sets on the market, the fact they look super realistic meant he felt as if was really joining in with our breakfast routine.  I can see this as being great to gradually introduce children to breakfast routines and even modelling tasks so they can eventually be more independent in the kitchen (once they’re much older).  It’s also great for working on pretend play and role play with younger children, which is an important part of development.

The design of this nifty set is great, and the actual appliances feel sturdy and well made; I can definitely see them lasting a year or two of play!  The pretend food and cups don’t seem as well made, but are a bonus really to all the great pieces of equipment in this toy breakfast kitchen set.

So what’s the verdict?  Well we’ve had a few pretend food sets in the past but this was one of my child’s favourites.  The fact you could use the toaster with the pop up function and add water to the kettle and coffee machine is what swung it for him-and they’re still a part of his pretend play set up now.

If you’re looking for a toy to introduce role play, add to your pretend kitchen set up or just introduce the skills you do in the kitchen to your child in a fun and accessible way, then I’d definitely recommend the Casdon Toy Morphy Richards Kitchen Set.
