Shetland Pony Mare and Accessories

Made by Schleich, this Shetland Pony Mare (13750) is a great little toy for any horse fan. The plastic is a nice soft material and is just the right weight for little hands. It’s great quality with fantastic attention to detail and has been painted perfectly to be as realistic as possible, showing off the different colours on its mane, tail, eyes, nostrils and feet. It even has a lovely heart on the pony’s back.
We had four accessory packs with it: a recreational rider, recreational saddle and bridle, blanket and head stall and a treat set. These are also great quality and very life like. My 3 year old children have not stopped pretending to feed the pony, putting on the blanket and getting the pony and rider to gallop along the floor. Putting the saddle and reins on has been a little tricky for them but I’m sure an older child would have no problem.
There are a couple of things to note. One is the rider has shaped legs to fit the horses when sitting on them which doesn’t affect playing with her off of the horse and the children weren’t bothered by this. I have checked and there are other figures available if you would also like standing figures.
The other thing is because we have the Shetland pony which is smaller than the other horses, some of the accessories don’t fit as well as they would on a larger pony but they are all fantastic and again don’t affect play, they are just a little on the large size.
Overall it is a fantastic little play set which I would highly recommend and I will be looking at purchasing some other horses and accessories in the collection.
