A group of us got together to try out the salsa classes which take place on a Sunday at La Tasca, Deansgate, Manchester. We arrived for the 2.30pm Beginners-Improver Class with Tina. Tina welcomed us and made us feel at ease. The class started with her demonstrating some basic steps. As the class progressed we learnt to put some of the steps we had learnt together into a sequence. I was a little worried about going without a dance partner. I shouldn’t have worried, people participating in the class swapped partners throughout the duration of the 1.5 hour class. I personally didn’t complete the whole class as I was poorly that day, but I thoroughly enjoyed what I did do. It was great from a social point of view too as people got chatting to their dance partners. Tina was great at helping when you were stuck. The others in our group did the whole class and came out beaming.

Tina is a fantastic dancer and dance teacher. She is friendly and approachable. I would recommend these classes as something fun to do with a partner, friend or group of friends and it’s a great way to exercise.

After our salsa class finished at 4.00pm we headed upstairs to the La Tasca restaurant to have tapas and cocktails. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We sat down and ordered some drinks, one of the group had a soft drink but the rest of us enjoyed some fantastic cocktails which were quickly brought over to our table. The adults had 2 tapas dishes each. My partner had plain patatas bravas and plain chicken breast which was not an issue for the staff at all. I enjoyed patatas bravas with cheese and Pollo Marbella. The chicken was so tender and the sauce the perfect amount to accompany the chicken. The restaurant staff were happy for my 22 month old twin boys to share a kids meal. There was so much choice. We opted for omelette, garlic bread and fried potatoes. Kids meals also come with vegetable crudities which were lovely and crunchy. My daughter and twin boys munched most of their kids meal. The other members of our group thoroughly enjoyed their tapas choices. All tapas dishes are served in wonderful ceramic dishes, making them ideal to share.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely and we all chatted happily until we left the restaurant a couple of hours later. Several of us visited the toilet facilities and were glad to see that they were clean and tidy and clearly checked regularly.

The children’s meals were brilliant value priced at £5.95 for 3 tapas dishes, a dessert and a drink. The tapas dishes ranged from around £3.00 upwards, again great value. This meant that my 2 tapas dishes and cocktail came to approximately £16.00 which is a great price for a meal out with friends.

I love La Tasca and would recommend it to anyone I know for their top quality food, atmosphere and service.

I would have to rate the salsa class and the meal top marks.
