On arriving at Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells last night you could feel the atmosphere and could immediately tell it was going to be a packed house to see the fantastic Ross Noble.

The show started slightly late but that only added to the atmosphere and gave everyone chance to look at the unique set which was a cross between the insides of someone’s body and Indiana Jones Temple of Doom!

Ross Noble literally bounced on the stage full of enthusiasm and energy and with what seemed to be absolutely no pre-written material proceeded to set off on 2 hours of spontaneous humour. From asking just three or four questions from the front row of the audience the show sort of evolved, and with every question came another tangent. He literally made it seem effortless incorporating heckles, strange laughs and any other audience participation into the show.

Ross is an amazingly quick thinker, and threw in everything from current topics such as Ebola to past heroes such as Dicky Davies, it was so eclectic I worry about the content of his mind! Yes the show has swearing and sexual connotations but not too much so, it certainly was not as blue as other comedians I have seen in the past and there was a large mix of age ranges in the massive audience. If you are in the first two rows expect to be singled out, especially if you have tattoos but its audience participation, not victimisation so don’t be scared of sitting up front. It’s the audience that make Ross Noble’s shows so different from one another.

We saw the show at the Tunbridge Wells Assembly Hall which is the perfect sized venue for the show, intimate yet atmospheric. The staff are prompt and courteous, the venue clean and tidy and has easy access for those with disabilities. It is an easy place to park too with a multi storey car park next door with charges of only £1.00 per night.

Whether it is your sense of humour or not you can’t help but be impressed by the speed of Ross Noble’s improvisation and non-scripted stand up. I recommended you get tickets to the next show you can and sit back and enjoy the evening. A really fun night out, highly recommended.
