Rick Astley 50 Tour at the Cliffs Pavilion Southend Review
Reviewed by Amanda Gazzard
Wow what can I say!! On Tuesday night we were at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend to see 80s pop star Rick Astley and his 50 tour. This was a truly amazing performance from an iconic solo artist.
Rick Astley’s vocals were amazing and so were his two beautiful female backing singers. Rick ensured his band had their moments to perform on their own equally showing off their huge talents.
His humour was refreshing and engaged with the audience throughout, even joining in with some banter from an over excited female member of audience.
Rick Astley has sold an amazing 40 million records spanning three decades and this was truly reflected with his equally impressive song choices. We were treated to some of his chart toppings songs from the eighties all the way up to his newest album 50, he even sang an Ed Sherran number to mix it up a little.
The audience varied from the young who were not born when he first stormed the charts in the eighties up to people his own age and maybe older. Rick Astley even made a joke to this fact!
It was a great atmosphere, fantastic night and such a shame it was for one night only as the show was a sell-out, but he did promise he will be back. Hopefully the wait will not be too long away though.
Rick Astley’s sell out tour is performing throughout the UK. Visit www.rickastley.co.uk for further details.
Finally the staffing team at The Cliffs Pavilion was very helpful and friendly. I cannot praise them enough for what was a very busy venue and evening.
