I was excited to be asked to review the RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum, as a mum of 2 young children, I very rarely have the opportunity to take some time out for a bit of me time, so I jumped at the chance for the prospect of using an at home product, which would give visible improvements in the appearance of my lashes!

The RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum arrived within a couple of days and was really well packaged in an outer cardboard box and arrived in pristine condition. The product itself was in an attractively packaged outer cardboard sleeve and inside the serum tube was secured in place to stop it wobbling around. The serum tube looks similar in size and appearance to a mascara tube and contained 3ml of product.

The packaging describes the product as an innovative high-performance lash serum, formulated with an exclusive Hexatein 1 complex to help boost the appearance of lashes in as little as 1-2 months, so I was keen to get going to see what it could do for mine.

The product is designed to be applied once a day, in the evening, so I started straight away, once I had removed my eye make-up and washed my face. I had expected the wand to be similar to those used in mascara, but in fact it was similar to the brush on a pen eyeliner. I found this a little tricky to use the first couple of days, as you had to apply the serum to the base of the upper lash line, starting from the inner corner of the eye outwards . It was difficult to gauge how much product was on the brush and whether I had managed to coat the base of all my lashes (which are very fair).

At the time of my review, I have been using the serum for 6 days and as yet I haven’t noticed a visible improvement in my lashes, however, this is to be expected as it is still early days and I need to use it for at least another 3 weeks to see visible improvements in the overall appearance and condition of my lashes.

The serum uses the unique Hexatein 1 Complex, which is apparently a blend of 6 high performance ingredient – peptides, biotin, amino acids, panthenol, soybean oil and pumpkin seed extract. The blend of ingredients is designed to help prevent premature fallout of the lashes, by nourishing and strengthening them to encourage the look of fuller lashes.

Although the product has been tested to ensure that it’s safe for contact lens wearers, there are warnings for pregnant or nursing women, people with eye-related disorders and those undergoing cancer treatments to check with their GP prior to use.

The RRP is £39.99, but the product is currently on sale at Look Fantastic for £31.99 (with a bonus for free UK delivery if you spend over £25). Personally, I feel the RRP is a relatively high outlay, without the ability to see immediate results and relies on the purchaser persevering for a while, to achieve the results (the literature alludes to 88% of people surveyed, experiencing an improvement in the appearance of their lashes, 86% experiencing fuller looking lashes and 86% experiencing thicker, stronger and longer looking lashes within 8 weeks). I will continue to use the serum for the next few weeks, as part of my night-time routine and if I achieve the expected results, I would be happy to purchase the product to maintain those improved lashes. I would recommend the product as a perfect Valentine’s gift or even a birthday gift for the special lady in your life.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 – a rating given based on the length of time the serum needs to be used for, to achieve the desired result. Plus I would prefer to see a mascara-wand style applicator, rather than the current format, for ease of use.
