Posterhaste Family Portrait Framed Print Review

Posterhaste is an online art gallery with a twist – you add your own touch to one of their creations to make a piece of artwork completely unique to you. Quality is key, with a proud claim that the paper, ink and other materials used are of the highest quality and the wooden frames are professionally handmade, then sealed and taped to protect your print.
The website is fresh and attractive, well laid out and, most importantly; easy to use. Options to choose from are endless and there’s something to suit everyone. For astronomy fans you could create a star or solar map to show how the stars or planets were aligned on an important date, both of which appear in various designs including a cute heart shape. For the more contemporary there’s an opportunity to make word art, using words important to you to form a collage in various designs or even inspirational words to boost your mood. All designs are available in a variety of colours and layouts; all of which are appealing to the eye.
I was given a pretty free rein with my creation, so I opened up the “Home” page to find something unusual, which really caught my attention. The choice was so hard as I love all of it – probably very good news for Posterhaste for future purchases! The “Family Portrait” is what I eventually settled on, so I then set about making it. The steps are clearly laid out on the website in nice bright colours and they are absolutely fool proof (important for me!). I hit the “Personalise Now” button and began my task.
The Family Portrait is stick people personalised by you to look like people you want to include in the picture. You can choose from just the print, a poster or even a framed print in 6 different sizes in either landscape, portrait or square design. I chose landscape because we have three children, two dogs and a cat so quite a bit of room to take up! I selected the 16” x 12” print in a 20” x 16” frame. There’s a choice from four attractive frames, so I chose the oak frame with a white background to match in with the colour scheme in our house. The background colours of the print are really attractive, and you could waste quite some time choosing between them. Type in the title of the portrait (I used our family name) and off you go adding in the people or animals you wish to include.
I had to chuckle to myself because the options do cater for every type of person and pet combination you could probably think of, so I will be sure to make another one once we have a family tortoise or pet chicken! I had such fun recreating my family members in stick-like picture form and I made sure to add a gold crown to my head given that I am the most important person (or so I like to think!). I hovered over the forehead wrinkles for a moment and then left them out – if I’m going to hang on the wall in stick form, I’m going to do it in style! I then added in my pets – two dogs and a cat. It might sound silly, but I was really impressed that they had the option for brown and white for one of my dogs as he is a liver and white Springer Spaniel and there are very few places that give you the option to personalise your dog in brown and white, curiously enough! As you work and add your new members to the picture be sure to click the “Update preview” button and your creation appears on screen as you go along. It’s a really enjoyable experience.
In just a few clicks my picture was finished so I added it to the shopping cart, which automatically generates a proof for you to double check. Once checked you simply check out and it is sent immediately to print. The turnaround on these is absolutely incredible. The website states that the estimated dispatch time is 5-7 working days, however I placed my order on the Monday and it arrived with me late Wednesday afternoon. I also received emails every step along the way, so I knew exactly where my order was. Even though I knew I had ordered quite a large picture, when I saw it I was pleasantly surprised by the size. The picture was really well packaged and double wrapped. The front is made of Perspex glass, which I much prefer due to the frequency of accidents in our house, and the Perspex was coated in a peelable green covering to keep it scratch and dirt-free during transit. I am super happy with my choice of frame – the oak is really attractive and it’s just the right width so as to be unobtrusive to the picture itself and the mount accompanies it perfectly.
As for the picture – well, in the flesh it looks amazing. The colours are just perfect, and it is simply adorable. Even though they are stick characters they sum up my family just perfectly. I love this so much that I have decided to hide it away from my family and I am going to give it to them at Christmas as a huge surprise. I know they will love it as much, if not more, than I do.
The 16” x 12” print in a 20” x 16” frame retails at £70, which is a fantastic price given the size and the quality involved. Postage for this size framed picture is £7.50 if you live in the UK or Northern Ireland. Check out the delivery information link for all delivery info, including last dates for Christmas ordering.
Speaking of Christmas – if you are looking for an extra special and unique gift to give this festive season then I would recommend Posterhaste without any shadow of doubt. They live up to their name and their claims and have provided me with an all-round fantastic experience and end result. May I take the time to especially thank Allie Margiotta at Posterhaste who did her utmost to ensure that this experience was first rate. I had a small query and she must have bent over backwards to help me out with it and make sure that I was happy with the service. 5 stars all round. Thank you so much for the fantastic opportunity!
