Christmas is just around the corner which means it is time to get an advent calendar! Every year advent calendars seem to become even more extravagant and over the top. But if you don’t want you or your children to be eating chocolate filled with refined sugar then there still isn’t that much out there. PLAY IN CHOC advent calendars change all that and are also incredibly planet friendly too!

Behind each door on the advent calendar you get not one, not two but three little treats – some gorgeous chocolate, a little festive 3D cardboard puzzle toy to assemble and a fun fact card (which relates to whatever your 3D puzzle toy for the day is).

The chocolate is vegan and dairy free and only made from the following ingredients – organic Peruvian cacao and cacao butter, creamed coconut, coconut palm sugar, and Madagascan bourbon vanilla so no refined sugar! It is also made in a SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) factory which means it is confirmed to be soy and nut free too. For anyone who has allergies to gluten, dairy, nuts, soy or sesame you can safely buy this product knowing that it has been made in a safe environment.

Now as well as being from great ingredients it is also important that the chocolate tastes good. My taster was my two year old nephew who can be pretty fussy with food and loves chocolate. He also loved PLAY IN CHOC chocolate and immediately asked for more! It tastes delicious and is incredibly creamy considering it is dairy free.

When the advent calendar arrived I was also impressed by the design and packaging – it looks like a luxury product with beautiful scenes on the front and is very stylishly put together and yet they only use paper based recycled, recyclable, biodegradable and home compostable materials for every part of their packaging and toys.

The 3D puzzle toys are great fun to make although they are the only part of the calendar which is not entirely suitable for young children because they are quite delicate and are easy to accidentally rip. However once taken out of the cardboard they are very fun to assemble and I was impressed that they were all able to stand up right easily. The fun fact card provides interesting information to do with whatever animal or figure you have assembled that day.

On their website you will also find a huge variety of other products including their ToyChoc Box® (this contains two individually wrapped dairy-free chocolates, a 3D cardboard toy to assemble and a fun facts card), plenty of gift sets or even a monthly subscription!

I highly recommend this advent calendar to anyone who wants something a bit different while also being conscious of the environment. I love that it is made ethically and responsibly while not sacrificing flavour and it definitely gets you into the joy of Christmas!
