Peter Pan is the classic story of the boy who never grows up (played by Harrison Vaughan from the Greatest Dancer on the BBC) and the ongoing battle between Peter Pan and Hook and his pirates in Neverland. The Darling children Wendy (played by Lauren McCrory) , John and Michael join Peter and his fairy friend Tinkerbell (played Hayley Russell) in a fun adventure to try and defeat the evil Hook (played by Scott Gallagher). Panto at St. Helens is always a fun event never to be missed and this Easter it’s a must-see for all the family.

The theatre is really friendly and welcoming venue, with really helpful staff and a relaxed atmosphere, it makes taking the kids really easy and there’s even a bar for the grown-ups. The theatre is very accessible with local authority parking nearby and sits directly opposite a bus station and is very close to a train station.

St. Helens have raised the bar with this production, not only does it include some favourite familiar faces at the theatre but also some new ones that helped to bring the freshness and fun to the whole experience. Vaughen did not disappoint with the adventurous dance moves and even took to the air on a few occasions along with McCrory. The hilarious duo Smee (played by Reece Sibbald) and Mrs Smee (played by David Phipps-Davis) kept us in absolute stitches throughout. There are jokes for everyone and the chemistry between the pair is obvious. They are so talented at engaging the audience and my particular favourite was the mermaid scene between the two of them – so much fun!
The lost boys crew were the icing on the cake, they brought so much energy and a good dose of cuteness to the production along with the Darling boys (the blue team) who were just mesmerising to watch. Mia Molloy played the devoted Tiger-Lily. We recently saw her in the production of the Wizard of Oz where she played Dorothy, so it was really interesting seeing her play a very different role. But our favourite had to be Hook, Gallagher’s take on the evil child-hating character was just brilliant, he was the perfect villain that you just love to hate and got the audience going with hisses and boo’s every time he was on stage. St. Helens have outdone themselves with this show, every single character just brings another level of brilliance and everything from the music to the dancers, the set design and costumes was just dazzling.

If you are looking for something extra fun to do this Easter with the entire family; I can’t recommend this show highly enough. It is jam-packed with entertainment and jokes and will leave you giggling all the way home. It’s a pressure-cooker of laughter and it’s amazing how much they actually squeezed into one show – there’s definitely something for everyone.

Rating: This show gets an unquestionable 5/5 from me, be prepared to leave with a sore belly from laughing and lots of happy memories.
