Dixon Of Dock Green Review

Dixon Of Dock Green

I had a great evening, cuddled up on the couch watchingDixon of Dock Green starring Jack Warner in the role of Sergeant George Dixon, in a television police drama series written by Ted Willis which began in 1955 and finally ending in 1976. Filmed on set and on location around the disappearing docklands of London’s East End, the character of Dixon, with his friendly and informal ‘Evening all’, he was an old fashion policeman you’d be tempted to welcome into your home for a cup of tea. In these black and white episodes, the Dock Green police must deal with cases as diverse as a vanished policeman; a mysterious assailant of young women; police protection of a witness to murder.

A great DVD to buy and reminisce. Unmissable and very nostalgic to watch a cosy, non-violent image around George Dixon.  Episodes began and ended with a monologue to camera beneath the police stations blue lamp, with a moralistic message that crime doesn't pay, before old George would disappear into the night whistling 'Maybe It's Because I'm A Londoner'.

Still-gripping and utterly compelling episodes of Dixon of Dock Green also watch out for quite a few famous faces.
