I was keen to review the Slumberdown Anti-allergy Mattress protector, as we always use mattress protectors and have used many brands of different costs over the years, although I have never tried an anti-allergy mattress protector before, so I was keen to see if there were any noticeable differences.

The first thing I noticed when unpacking the mattress protector was the quality of the quilted topper. This was of a good thickness and added an extra layer of comfort to our mattress whilst also ensuring that the fibres are not likely to trigger an allergy. I also noticed how soft the mattress protector felt, this gave it a quality feel, this is due to the microfibre material used.

The mattress protector was tested in king size, easily fitted onto our mattress, which is a deep memory foam mattress, deeper than most however the protector fitted well and wasn’t too baggy. My pet hate is when the mattress protector and fitted sheet ‘pop’ off easily, however with the anti-allergy mattress protector this wasn’t the case and it stayed put well during the week trial. The product information suggests that it is suitable for mattresses up to 30cms in depth
I was interested in the mattress protector claims about reducing allergies due to a special anti-allergy filling which claims to reduce dust mites and bacteria that could trigger allergies, this is a concern for us as the other half struggles with a dust mite allergy. We tested the mattress for a week and although he hadn’t noted any specific problems before using the mattress protector, he did comment that he had awoken feeling that he had a good night’s sleep and felt good during the period of the trial. The mattress protector is approved by Allergy UK, so it comes highly recommended and supported by research too which is reassuring for families with allergy concerns.
Another key feature is that the protector is machine washable at 40 degrees centigrade and can be tumble dried, which means it is convenient for busy households.

If you’re like us, and have allergies in your household, this is the perfect product for you. The Slumberdown Anti-Allergy mattress protector is priced at £21.50, which is very reasonable and compares well with other standard (non-allergy) mattress protectors, which are available at a similar price point. Any mattress protector is an investment which helps to prolong the life of your mattress and protect the mattress from accidental damage or stains, but the added features of this mattress protector definitely make it stand out from competitors and I would definitely choose this again over other brands.

If you are interested in buying the Slumberdown Anti-Allergy Mattress Protector, it can be purchased from the Sleepseekers website, which is easy to navigate and gives lots of information about the products to help you choose just the right products for your needs. The price point of the duvet is very reasonable for a quality and unique product.

Rating: I would rate this 5/5 stars.
