MBotanicals Soy Wax Candle Review

Reviewed by Nia Lock

I had completely forgotten that the MBotanicals soy wax candle was on its way to me so it was a surprise and a delight to receive a box from the postman which smelled heavenly. The candle arrived carefully packed in a nest of scented packing material which I could smell as soon as I picked up the parcel. This smelled different to the candle which was another nice surprise.

MBotanicals products are cruelty free and vegan. The sour plum scented candle comes in an amber glass jar with a screw lid. It’s a very simple, clean look with a pretty label on the jar. The hand poured soy wax is a creamy shade of ivory and contrasts beautifully with the amber of the jar. Sour plum appealed to me as it’s a bit of an unusual scent. The fragrance of the unlit candle really is like sour plum, it’s not overly sweet but has a nice balance. On lighting the candle I was pleased to notice the fragrance immediately filling the air and smelling just like the unlit candle which isn’t always the case with some candles I’ve tried and can be disappointing. The first time I lit the MBotanicals sour plum soy wax candle I only let it burn for half an hour before I went out but it made the room smell beautifully plummy in that time. When I got home an hour later the smell was still quite noticeable. This candle has made me hungry for my damson harvest in the autumn. The candle will burn for 20-25 hours but I don’t think it’ll last until autumn!
