Keeping my skin clear and blemish free has been a battle that I’ve been engaged in since I was a teenager. Back then I thought it would never end and to some degree it didn’t. Even as an adult I’m always looking for products that will keep the dreaded spots at bay and am super wary of putting anything on my skin that could cause me to breakout in spots further down the line. I’m also seeing my niece starting her skin care journey and experiencing the start of the hormone imbalances that cause the increase oil production and outbreaks on her skin; so I’m keen to find a product that will work for her too.
Mavala Pore Detox Perfecting Foaming Cleanser comes in a really decent sized 165ml bottle – something that I think will last a long time and most importantly for many consumers nowadays is recyclable. The cleanser is a micellar water, meaning that it uses purified water as a base liquid, this one doesn’t contain any soap products and instead is formulated with both witch hazel and Alpine Willowherb – an ingredient derived from a rare Alpine species. I’d never heard of Willowherb in the context of skin care before. All this combined, aims to remove any toxins and make-up but without blocking pores which is the key thing in skin care.
The Mavala cleanser is really easy and simple to use in place of soap, to wash your face in the sink or shower; day and night. The instructions also suggest that it is washed off with cold water to increase the astringent effect, which will reduce pore size – always a bonus. The cleanser comes in a pump bottle. One pump is enough to expel just the right amount to wash your face and the pump means that it comes out in the form of really smooth light foam that goes over the skin smoothly, spreads really well and smells clean and fresh. Once washed off, my skin felt really squeaky clean and soft. There was no feeling of dryness either, which sometimes occurs over time when I use a new product. I liked using the cleanser and used it day and night to see the results sooner rather than later.
After a couple of days of use, I found that I broke out in a few spots on different areas of my face but I persevered with using the cleanser and found that this settled and now my skin appears much clearer and I’m quite happy with how it looks. I’ve passed it onto my niece to use and she felt like the breakouts on her skin have calmed down a lot – I’m interested to find out if she sees more benefits with continual use.
The Mavala Cleanser retails at £13 and is currently on offer for £9.10. It can be purchased at https://www.lookfantastic.com/mavala-pore-detox-perfecting-foaming-cleanser-165ml/11484406.html. Whilst this might be on the pricey side for a teenager I do feel that it is worth it for both the amount you get – it really will last months – and also for the results. It’s a lovely quality product and when you get results like that you want to stick with it and use it time and again. Knowing that it contains natural ingredients and leaves my skin feeling fresh, clean and soft means that it’s a product that I will be recommending and using regularly.
Rating: It gets a 5/5 from me!
