On Saturday 6 September we visited the Regent Theatre in Stoke to see the Rhythm of the Dance, a two-hour dance and music extravaganza reliving the journey of the Irish Celts throughout history.

The Rhythm of the Dance show opened with beautiful Irish music being played and a screen shots of old Irish scenes displayed on a central screen on the stage. The dancers then entered and showed us what they could do. The sound of their feet in unison was unmistakable of true Irish dance. During the show there were different sections of dance and music.

The music was played by five musicians and they should be applauded for their commitment to the show and reflection of Irish music in such a talented way. There were also three male tenors and a female singer who were also extremely talented and sang beautifully complimenting the 22 dancers. The lead male and female dancers show exceptional talent for their craft and displayed this at various times throughout the show with much applause from the audience.

The show closed with a dramatic dance with all dancers and musicians together on the stage and received a standing ovation from the audience.

A must see show that is a true reflection of Irish dance and music at its very best!
