I had seen lots of different Vtech Toot Toot Driver sets but my daughter has never played with one, so I was unsure what to expect. Initially I thought it was some kind of train track. I was therefore excited to give it a try.
The parcel did take a little while to arrive but when it did it was well packaged in a carboard box. The packaging is fully recyclable. The actual toy box has instructions as to how to recycle, which is great.
The VTech Toot-Toot Drivers Bluey Road Trip Play Set is an interactive toy designed for children aged 12 months to 5 years. My daughter is 3 years old. The set is inspired by the animated series Bluey.
The playset is centred around a road trip adventure, allowing children to drive Bluey’s family car from her house to various destinations like the beach and school. The set includes Bluey’s family car with light-up headlights, but other cars can be purchases. The set has four Smart Point locations that trigger character phrases and sound effects when the car drives over them and other interactive elements such as a twistable flower and a window and door that opens.
The playset has great sound and music features, including one sing-along song, six melodies, and multiple voice phrases from Bluey.
I understand that this playset is also compatible with other VTech Toot-Toot Drivers sets, allowing for expanded play possibilities.
The playset is made from durable plastic and appears to be pretty sturdy, which is needed to withstand toddler play. My daughter not only used the Bluey car but all her other cars and trucks to whizz them around.
Assembly is required, and although the set includes a quick start guide, I did find this a bit challenging. I am not sure if this is because I was being assisted by my daughter. I would definitely recommend not building the set with a child around. “Does this bit go here mummy” is not very helpful! I also didn’t put the screws in, and this is necessary to make sure the set doesn’t come apart. The set requires 2 AAA batteries, which are included for demo purposes but will need to be changed at some stage.
VTech is known for providing a mix of fun and learning, and this playset is no exception. The Smart Point technology encourages cause-and-effect learning, while the interactive features promote fine motor skills. The familiar voice of Bluey and the themed environments also help children engage in storytelling and role-play, enhancing their creativity and language use.
Overall, the Bluey Toot-Toot Drivers Road Trip Play Set is a fantastic toy for toddlers who love Bluey and enjoy interactive play. It offers a great balance of fun, learning, and imaginative exploration. While it may not be the most complex playset, its charm lies in its simplicity and the joy it brings. My daughter played with the set for a good hour after we put it together.
The RRP is £36, and the additional cars are £12 each. I think the set is good value for money, but the extra cars seem a little expensive. The additional cars are not required just a fun extra.
