Yesterday I was invited to the launch of Legends of Chima at Legoland Discovery Centre at The Trafford Centre in Manchester. We found it easily as it is very well signed posted. The car park had plenty of child and non-child spaces free and is a stones throw from Legoland itself.

We arrived late afternoon there were no queues and we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who gave us a map and pointed us in the right direction. I had taken with me my grandson aged 8 and nephew aged 2, who were both fascinated by the Lego models in the reception and had to be coaxed away to the main attractions as they were having so much fun.

Once inside there is plenty to keep your little ones entertained, the model village is based on the North West, fantastic and well-designed. Kingdom Quest laser ride is interactive and we had lots of fun shooting the "baddies", this I was told by my nephew after, was his favourite and can we do it again (by this time we are on our way home). There are a couple more rides one of which, Merlin’s Apprentice, you have to peddle like crazy to be elevated, needless to say my knees are aching today and the City Forest ride. My nephew was not big enough for this but my grandson loved it.

We then went over to the play area, it wasn't too busy and there were plenty of seats available where you can keep an eye on your climbing monkeys. The boys stayed in there until it was time to watch the 4d showing of Legends of Chima.

We were given glasses to put on and asked to take a seat. A young man explained what was going to happen and that we might get wet! And then the show began.

The movie features the world of Anthropomorphic creatures, In the main four young animals who are fighting good against evil right in front of our eyes, we are taken on a roller coaster ride full of thrills and excitement, the characters come to life right in front of your eyes and from the squeals coming from around the theatre everybody was enjoying this fast paced adventure. As we followed them on their travels it started to snow, it looked and felt like snow and my nephew was amazed by it, there was also smoke and wind which added to the excitement, in the end the four young heroes are the winners and it finished with a stinky skunk sticking his tail in the air and emitting a smelly poof of something much to the delight of the audience. All in all it was a great experience and we all thought Legends of Chima a fantastic movie. It’s around 12 minutes long too so ideal for little ones who don't have a long concentration span.

We had a fabulous afternoon, I asked Kian (my grandson) what his best bit was…" all of it Nana, can we go again soon" was his answer. What more could you want.

Great place and reasonably priced with tickets starting from £8.10 (when booking online).

Rating: 5/5
