What an amazing evening myself and my guest had watching Legend – The Music Of Bob Marley at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable.  We got a lift to the theatre however it can also be reached easily by bus or those driving can park in a car park right next to the theatre.  Upon entering the theatre, we picked up our tickets from the box office.  We then had a short wait until 7pm when we could take our seats in the auditorium. The stage had a fantastic colourful backdrop.    We took our seats and excitedly waited for the show to start.  The show didn’t quite start on time due to a technical issue, something that I feel couldn’t be helped.  The band came out and I was wowed by their outfits, especially the male singer’s jacket and the beautiful dresses that the female backing singers were wearing.  All of the outfits tied in with each other perfectly.

The atmosphere in the audience was electric.    Some of the songs which the band sang included Could You Be Loved, Buffalo Soldier, Exodus, I Shot The Sheriff, Get Up Stand Up and Satisfy My Soul.  A large proportion of the audience were stood on their feet singing and dancing for several of the songs.  The band had a lovely rapport with each other and clearly loved performing.  Their performance was exceptional. So much talent was up on the stage.   At one point during the show I was literally moved to tears over being there and getting to experience the show.

Highlights for me were the songs I Shot The Sheriff, No Woman No Cry, Could You Be Loved, Is This Love and Buffalo Soldier, but I absolutely loved the whole performance.  I was taken back to my university days as a teenager when I discovered the legend that is Bob Marley.  He tragically lost his life a few years before I was familiar with his music, but his music lives on through this wonderful tribute act.  When I think of reggae music, Bob Marley is the first singer who comes to mind. The show was 2 hours long not including the interval.  The whole band had a fantastic energy about them.  The male singer had some great moves.  I loved the part of the show when he took his hat off and had his dreadlocks visible.

All staff I came across at The Grove Theatre were professional, approachable and helpful.  The toilet facilities were clean and tidy and clearly checked regularly.  Whilst my guest and I did not pre-order any interval drinks on this occasion, we have during a previous visit and the service we received was faultless. We went for a drink after the show at a nearby pub. There are several pubs/restaurants within walking distance of the theatre.

If you, like myself and my guest, love Bob Marley’s music, then I highly recommend going to see this show.  I think it’s one not to be missed!  I would go and see the show again at a different venue.  Thank you to the band and the Grove Theatre for a wonderful evening which I will treasure the memory of.
