Las Iguanas Brunswick Square London Review

A Taste of Latin America!

Reviewed by Sabrina Fancy

I am always at a loss for places to take my children over half term and wanted to do something a bit different. We decided to indulge our palates at Las Iguanas, which serves authentic Brazilian, Mexican and Latin American food and cocktails. It came to our attention that over half term, and all school holidays that Las Iguana’s runs a promotion where kids eat free with the purchase of an adult main course so we thought we would give it a try!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by 2 lovely members of staff. We found the space to be modern and welcoming and they had a wonderful outdoor area as well, had it been a bit warmer.

We were given our menus and told about the numerous deals on offer! Apart from the ‘Kids dine free’ promotion, there is an all- day 2 for 1 on cocktails and mocktails, meaning that it’s happy hour all day every day! The cocktails were delicious and not watered down, which is a common problem I find at other restaurants. There was a huge range of cocktails and I made a note to come again – without the kids. A full list of cocktails can be found here.

The menu at Las Iguanas is brilliant! There is so much choice and they have an additional veggie and vegan menu in addition to a gluten free menu, with everything clearly marked. Everything on the various menus looked scrumptious! I have yet to see such an extensive menu catering for a variety of diets elsewhere.

Our starter of Nachos was a delicious and fresh tasting portion of spice dusted corn chips, guacamole, roasted tomato salsa, sour cream, guacamole and a generous amount of jalapeno peppers. I loved how spicy this dish was.

Next on to our mains, which came very quickly and nicely presented despite the restaurant being quite full.

The portion sizes were huge, beautifully made and cooked to perfection with a variety of spices used-just the way I like it. The vibrant flavours and colours of the food made me feel as if we were on holiday-it was a fantastic atmosphere!

My son opted for the calamaris below. Note-this dish is from the children’s menu and is a very generous size.

We were very full after our meal but our kids insisted on the cinnamon sugar dusted Churros which came with chocolate ganache and Dulce de leche and was sublime!

While dining at Las Iguanas, there was a great ambience with a very welcoming feeling. The lovely staff couldn’t do enough for you and were happy to try and customize your food accommodate customers. Throughout the evening the service was friendly and attentive.

Even though Las Iguana’s is a chain it certainly did not feel like one, but felt more of a customized dining experience.

It is not often that we find a restaurant that my family is collectively happy with, but with the amazing food, drinks ambiance and the lovely staff we all left very happy and very full! It is difficult to find a restaurant that delivers in all of these areas while being family friendly and a great night out for adults. I highly recommend that you visit right away, particularly if you have children over half term/holidays where kids eat free. I rate Las Iguanas 5/5 stars and will be returning very soon!
