The Ladybird Baby Touch book: Hello Baby! is the first baby touch book I have used with my son who is around 5 months old so when the book arrived I was intrigued to see if he would take notice of the touch materials or just stare at the pictures.
The book itself is very colourful and has no sharp edges so I could quite easily leave it with my son without fear of him poking his eye out. The story is very simple, not that a child of 5 months needs anything very complicated and easy page is a different colour. It is a board book so no worries about pages being ripped out and totally wipe able from those saliva covered fingers. The last page in the book has a mirror, again adding something different from a sensory perspective and could keep my son entertained for a short while.
I read the book to him twice, each time getting him to touch the material as we read the pages. I had to touch the areas myself to see what they felt like and they we selected to feel like the animal we were reading about on the page. The textures were all different which is great for sensory at this age and they were all different colours which gave me another element to add to the story.
There are 3 more books in this series and I would love to get the others either for my child or for a friend. They are also available on the App store and Google play, not sure how that would work but I would love to see how it’s done.
It’s a well-priced book and I would recommend getting one for your child or as a gift.
