Konstsmide Metal Cylinder Lights Review

Reviewed by Louisa Nashir

Gnosjo Konstsmide was founded in 1942 by a bus driver named Gunnar Johansson who had the idea of making and selling flower stands and garden decorations from wrought Iron. Starting with just a few employees Gnosjo Konstsmide was born and by the end of the fifties they began creating electric candlesticks. Nowadays Gnosjo Konstsmide is an internationally recognised brand successfully breaking into the Christmas lighting and decoration market throughout Europe. Their innovative designs and high quality set them out in front as a real leader in their field.

I was very pleased to learn I would be receiving a set of lights from Konstsmide and was not disappointed whatsoever when they arrived.

The packaging is very much in keeping with Christmas with beautiful burgundy red and luscious green along with ice white text.

Inside the box was the lights and a technical information leaflet which is printed in many languages.

The technical information was easy to understand and gave instructions on the type and size of battery required (3x AA – not included), the life span of the string lights (150 hours) and various safety instructions such as not using rechargeable batteries, how to store the lights if not in use and even how and to dispose of your used batteries safely.

The lights I received were copper lanterns and there were 10 lights attached to the 1.2-meter cable. I immediately fell in love with the lanterns and that was before I had even switched them on.

Copper is one of my favourite colours and is a really popular style choice over here in the UK. Copper is popping up everywhere, from jewellery to clothing, to phone cases and cosmetics! Copper mania is hitting fever pitch and I love it!

I decided to hang the lights in my 18-year-old stepdaughters bedroom as her room is styled in a Parisian nature with subtle greys, white wood furniture, pale pink fabrics and rose gold features. So I knew the string lights would look perfect in her room and also be a nice surprise for her to return home to after a long day at work.

The quality of these string lights is second to none and the craftsmanship and attention to detail shine through. Each lantern was finished to perfecting with no flaws whatsoever and each of the 10 was finished in a high gloss look.

The lanterns are extremely good quality and although they are technically Christmas decorations they don’t look like it at all and wouldn’t look out of place left up when the Christmas tree and decorations are taken down in the New Year.

What surprised me most was the perfect level of light the lanterns gave off. For a battery-operated light they give a great amount of warm light, although they are LED they are not blinding, instead give the room a beautiful subtle glow. Quite often I find LED lights give me dark spots in my vision as they are usually far too bright, garish and cheap looking. I can certainly tell you that this set of lights is anything but!

If you are looking for a high end set of Christmas lights then take a look at www.internetgardener.co.uk/shop/christmas where you can find a huge array of indoor and outdoor lights for your home and garden.

I certainly will be looking to build my indoor and outdoor light collection and will be adding a few to my Christmas list this year! I intend to make the festive season sparkle with Konstsmide.
