As the nights draw in, there is nothing I like more than a cosy night in, drawing the curtains, putting on a good film and lighting some candles of course.
I was delighted to be able to review a Kindred fires candle. I spent a while browsing the easy to navigate website, there were so many lovely personalised options to choose from, it was really hard to make a decision. Kindred Fires make personalised scented candles for every occasion I could think of.
The Festive range is lovely and there is something for everyone at any milestone, such as First Christmas Married, Baby’s first Christmas, New Home and loads more. I eventually settled on the Family Christmas candle, which can be personalised with your surname, in my case “The Gatehouse Family” surrounded by a festive wreath pattern of Christmas trees and rabbits. The next decision was to choose the scent and with 11 choices there is something for
everyones taste. I was torn between Black Raspberry and Vanilla and Lavender and White Tea (among others) but decided to go with the latter as I find the scent of lavender so calming. However the Orange and Cinnamon would have been wonderfully festive.
The candle arrived appropriately packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with shredded paper, inside underneath some decorative tissue paper was a presentation box that held the candle, all fully recyclable as well as pretty which is a bonus.
My first impressions were excellent, on opening I was immediately hit by a wonderful scent and the glass jar that holds the candle was engraved with the lovely personalised design from the website, the quality was good and I would be delighted to receive one of these as a gift and would be pleased to give them to others to mark a special occasion.
The candle smelt even more wonderful after lighting and the scent filled the room with ease I was pleased to know the candle boasts a 40 hour burn time. Where the engraved part is clear the flame warmly glows through highlighting the pattern beautifully.
After the candle has run down, I will clean the jar/holder and reuse it for tea lights or even a short string of fairy lights would be lovely, it is simply too pretty for single use.
The candle retails for £24 with free delivery, perhaps this could be seen as expensive but this is not your everyday candle, the price reflects that they are hand poured and completely natural. Even more of a positive that the company is based in Manchester at a time when it is so important to be supporting UK businesses.
In my opinion it is the perfect gift and with so many options available could be personalised to any individual, couple or family. And I love that after the candle has burned down, the glass jar can be kept as a lovely keepsake.
This is an easy win gift, I will certainly be looking to kindred fires for Christmas presents this year.
